By today 1 143 respondents have completed the online questionnaire concerning their plans for the event. In addition, these figures are not recent, as we will continue to take online poll in order to provide most convenient, secure and timely transport services for fans and guests of the Championship. We value every vote, every request”, - Terentii Meshcheriakov, CEO of ANO “Transport Directorate-2018”, commented first polling results.
81% is going to visit football matches with families and friends. Meanwhile 60% of respondents have chosen train as top-priority transport mode. Almost 52% of respondents have preferred high-speed trains and 24% - passenger trains. “We expected nearly such results. That is why we took all efforts to provide rail transportation of WC 2018 fans free of charge. All required amendments have been already made to the Russian legislation. We are currently working on mechanism of granting right on free railroad travel between host cities”, - Terentii Meshcheriakov noted.
According to 83% of pollees, football fans are planning to arrive at host cities whether the day before or strictly on the match day. Moreover, they do not intend to stay too long in host cities: 84% will leave the city as soon as the match finishes or next day.
If we take a closer look at social portrait of a football fan traveling between host cities - it will be definitively a young man aged between 16 and 35. Most fans are planning to travel after their national team until its elimination or victory.
Despite the fact that our research have being conducted since several months and these results confirm our plans and expectations stipulated in the Integrated operational transport plan, we will continue online poll till the last, if necessary, until the opening of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, - Terentii Meshcheriakov concluded.
